A member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, his overall approach is pluralistic, meaning that he uses a mix of person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behaviour therapy. On an individual basis, how he works is flexible, and is dependant on the presenting issue, the clients' goals for the therapy, and also which approach makes sense to the client.

His interest and desire to become a counsellor came from seeing the effects of trauma and stress during his thirty years working in the emergency services. He now enjoys being able to provide people with a safe space, a place where they can be who they really are, and explore whatever has brought them to counselling. He has a particular interest in the effects of trauma, as well as how manipulative and controlling personalities impact the people around them.
